Dear Sir

I am writing on behalf of myself and three friends who are undertaking an epic fundraising adventure -bike riding from Vietnam to Cambodia in November 2013.

We have called ourself Team "Four fit Ladies". The Challenge is on behalf of Arthritis NSW-Riding for Disability and being organised by Inspired Adventures.

In order for us to be able to take part, we have to raise a minimum amount of $14000 for Arthritis NSW, before August 2013.

I am writing to ask if Cabonne Council would consider assisting us with a donation or sponsorship to our cause.

I spoke with Lachlan MacSmith at the Australia Day celebrations in Canowindra. He encouraged me to send an email to the General Manager, outlining what we were attempting so it could be put before the next council meeting for consideration

I am attaching our mailing letter we are sending out to businesses and individuals which has more detail about who we are and why we are attempting to complete this challenge.

I have lived most of my life in the area,. I was born in Cudal and lived with my parents, Allen and Kate Shannon, who ran a successful farming enterprise until they retired in 1998. After my schooling and tertiary education in Sydney and Wagga, I moved to Canowindra with my husband and one child in 1980. My other two children were born in the Cudal hospital. They were all schooled here in Canowindra before moving onto tertiary education and successful employment positions elsewhere in the State. I have been an active community member in the Shire ever since, being involved with preschool, primary and high schools, swimming club and other various committees.

Thankyou for reading this email and giving consideration to my request for supper by the Cabonne Council.

Community Services Manager's REPORT

For Youth Week 2013 Big Air School, Australia’s premier action sports youth program will be visiting Manildra Skate Park at the start of the April School holidays as part of their tour of Rural NSW.

Manildra was identified as a preferred site for an event because of the high quality and innovation of the skate park there.

Cost of the event is $4000.00 and to date Youth Week funding and sponsorship from a skate company have funded $2300.00 of this. The balance of $1700.00 is being sought from corporate and community sponsorship.

The event’s focus is on safety in a fun, friendly environment and consist of a demonstration, a coaching clinic and competition. The event is fully insured and they will provide top of the range helmets, scooters, and BMXs for local young people to try out.

The event will feature a prominent DJ, up to 12 staff, fantastic prizes (including medals), and numerous free gifts for participants.

Council’s Community Transport Services are looking at running buses to the event from centres within Cabonne provided there are sufficient bookings.
