ITEM - 1    APPLICATIONS FOR LEAVE OF ABSENCE

ITEM - 4    Livable Communities Workshop

 

Proceedings in Brief

The Community Services Manager advised that the workshop will be held on the 27 February with Councillor Walker giving a welcome to the meeting and that the RSVP for the workshop is 22 February.

THAT Council endorse the holding of a Liveable Communities workshop in Cabonne.

ITEM - 5    Bush Bursaries

 

Proceedings in Brief

The Community Services Manager advised that this was an annual program which enabled Medical Students to experience the way Medical Practitioners work and live in rural communities. The Committee queried as to interest shown by local practitioners with the Community Services Manager advising that local doctors had expressed interest in previous years.

THAT Council consider making a budget allocation for Bush Bursaries for the 2013/14 financial year.

ITEM - 6    NAIDOC Week School Initiatives

 

Proceedings in Brief

Clr Gosper referred to Cabonne’s Youth Ambassador for 2013, Sarah White whom has been quite supportive in NAIDOC activities and felt that it is worthwhile that Council contribute to this initiative.

THAT Council Contribute $200.00 to NAIDOC Week School Initiatives from the s.356 Budget

ITEM - 7    CWA Public Speaking Contest for Schools

 

Proceedings in Brief

The Committee discussed feedback of the event with Clr Gosper advising informal feedback through newspaper coverage was generally made of the contest. It was also raised as to recognition for sponsorship with the Committee suggesting perhaps an announcement or media release noting Council’s contribution towards the event.

THAT Council donate $200 to the CWA Public Speaking Contest for Schools and issue a media release regarding the donation.

Proceedings in Brief

The Community Services Manager advised the Committee of the need to update policies in line with receipt of the new vehicle and changes that have been made regarding services.
