Director of Environmental Services' REPORT
Council is in receipt of an email from an objector to the above Development Application, a copy of which is annexed to this report.
The objector has requested that consideration of this item be deferred to the next Council meeting to enable sufficient time for the objectors to receive and review the planning report.
A copy of the planning report and annexures from the July Council Business Paper in relation to the above Development Application has been mailed on 14th July 2011 to all objectors to the development.
THAT Item 16 of the Determination section of the July 2011 business paper in relation to DA 2008/69 be deferred until the August Council Meeting to enable the objectors time to consider the planning report relating to this application.

MAYORAL MINUTE
Following an invitation by Mr Bill Trimmer, the spokesperson for the Eastern Area Amalgamation Group, myself along with the Deputy Mayor, Clrs Bleakley, MacSmith, Wilcox and the Director of Finance & Corporate Services met with the Group on Monday 27 June 2011. Clrs Duffy & Culverson were also in attendance.
At the meeting, the Group provided a copy of the map indicating the proposed area to be included in the Amalgamation proposal with Orange City Council. The Group then outlined the process they were going through with the 250 signatures for their petition and forwarding the petition to the Minister and the Boundaries Commission. From subsequent media reports, I understand the petition has now been forwarded.
I have requested staff to more clearly define the boundaries which appeared on an old parish map that was provided. This process has taken some time due to some of the boundaries following individual property lines. As best staff can determine, a copy of the map is attached to this Mayoral Minute.
Following the meeting I also wrote to the spokesperson for the Group, offering to keep communication lines open and advised that Council would be happy to attend any future meetings.
I understand the proposal will now be considered by the Minister and Council will be advised in due course.
Councillors would be aware there have been a large number of calls from people in the Eastern Area and other parts of the Shire opposing the amalgamation proposal and I have recently been advised that an anti-amalgamation group has been formed.
At this stage, the three main courses of action that I intend to pursue are:
1. Keep lines of communication open with the Eastern Area Amalgamation Group;
2. Await further advice from the Minister or Boundaries Commission;
3. Liaise with the anti-amalgamation group which has recently been formed.
THAT the information be noted.
